How do I report a fake Tinder profile?

Tinder can be a great way to meet people, find a date, have some fun, or even meet the love of your life. But be warned, there are some fake profiles out there. Some are even powered by bots and aren't even real people. There are many scams on Tinder; some people may be trying to sell you something or even steal your bank details or identity.

Signs that a profile is fake

There are a few ways to tell that a profile is fake; lookout for the following.

Lack of information

There's no information on their profile. Most people have basic information on their profile's bio, such as their occupation and a bit about themselves. If there's nothing, this is a sign of a fake profile.

Only one photo

If there's any reason to believe that the person you're talking to isn't the person in the photo, it's likely to be a fake profile. This includes only one image, a picture that looks photoshop or professionally done. Photos of celebrities or photos of different people.

Replying too quickly

If you send a message on Tinder and the person replies within seconds, every time, this is a sign that you're talking to a bot. You may also notice that they send answers that don't make sense.

Other warning signs

  • They want to move the conversation to a different platform or ask for your contact details straight away.
  • The profile or the person seems too good to be true.
  • They offer to sell you a product or service.

How to report a fake Tinder profile

Tinder does everything that they can to crack down and remove fake profiles. If you notice anything suspicious with someone you've been matched with, report the profile to tinder as soon as possible. You can do so by following these simple steps.

  1. Go to your matches by clicking on the chat bubble symbol that's at the top of the screen on the right hand side.
  2. Select the profile that you think is fake and that you want to report.
  3. Click on the three dots in the right hand corner.
  4. You'll then be able to select "Report [name]"
  5. Click on "Feels Like Spam."

Once you've followed these steps, you'll be unmatched with the profile you've reported. They will no longer be able to contact you. Tinder will then be able to decide whether or not the profile is fake and will likely ban them from the platform.

Contact Tinder's Customer Service

If you need any other help and advice about using Tinder, you may like to contact their customer service team, who can help you resolve any issues you're having with the platform. They can be contacted by email, live chat, or through social media.
